Sometimes simply remembering to stop and take a deep breath is all you need to reset your mind. Sometimes setting aside “me time” just doesn’t seem like it’s possible and you keep pushing yourself forward, believing that tomorrow will be better. Over time, always putting others before yourself can lead to resentment, irritability, depression, and health issues. It really is true.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor – In Training, and I have been helping people of all ages in various stages of crisis for the past 27 years. I have worked most closely with teens through older adults in the areas of depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, trauma, mood disruptions, relationship issues, life transitions and suicidal ideation.
I am certified as a Crisis Intervention Debriefer with a special understanding of Law Enforcement and First Responders. I am also a Certified Coordinator for Crisis Intervention Team training with the Ozaukee County NAMI/CIT team. I enjoy training the community about how to handle (interface with) emergency situations, access resources, and learn about the community around you.
I believe in treating the whole person; the mind-body connection, meditation, and affirmations. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Somatic Experiencing Therapy – a naturalistic and neurobiological approach to healing trauma are the theories that most fit my style of practice.
I can promise that I will give you my undivided attention, always respect you as an individual with your own unique experiences and provide the safest space possible for you to make your way to the place you want to be in life.
