Hi, I’m Kate, and I’m excited to bring yoga, through a trauma informed lens, to Best Self Counseling Center! There are many paths toward healing, and I invite you to explore yoga as one of those pathways.

 

Why yoga? When trauma and stress are held in the body, there’s an opportunity for healing - uniting the body, mind, and spirit. 

 

Benefits of yoga through a trauma informed lens include:

  • Strengthened mind-body connection

  • The recognition of choice in one’s life

  • Increased feelings of confidence, courage, and autonomy

  • Release of tension and stress stored in the body

  • Increased feelings of safety and strength in the body

  • Enhanced feelings of self-compassion, self-acceptance, and self-trust

  • Nervous system regulation and improved heart rate variability

 

What to expect: In a trauma-informed yoga class, you’ll be guided through a combination of gentle and mindful movement, trauma-sensitive breath work and restorative postures.  The emphasis is on personal choice, empowerment, and self-compassion. I teach slowly, offering variations to poses, honoring each student’s pace and holding space for safe exploration of your body’s sensations and emotions, to find what feels best for you. My role is to support you and your overall healing journey. Your body is your own and your choices in class will always be honored and celebrated. No prior yoga experience is necessary AND all fitness levels are welcome.

About me: 

My own path to yoga has been a winding one that began 15 years ago, and as I have grown and changed, so has my yoga practice. Yoga was first introduced to me as a form of physical exercise (one which I was quite intimidated by), but with the guidance of wonderful yoga teachers, I came to recognize yoga’s calming and empowering impacts. Learning about the ways the body holds onto trauma, and yoga’s healing potential, sparked distinct self recognition and a curiosity that I've been exploring ever since. Yoga has become a vital pathway for coming home to my own body, releasing held emotions, and reclaiming my autonomy and wholeness. 

 

I am a Certified Yoga Teacher and received my 200 hr Mindful Yoga Teacher Training & 20 hr Mindful, Trauma-Informed Yoga Teacher Training.

SESSION INFORMATION:

Private 1:1 yoga sessions: ages 13 & up, male or female 

When: Can be scheduled directly with the instructor, both day and evening times available!

Cost: $80 for 60 minutes

Includes a 15 minute complimentary consultation to discuss specific needs and goals.

 

Adult female yoga group sessions:

When: Fridays 1 pm to 2 pm

Cost: $40 for 60 minutes

Limited to 5 students

 

Teen female yoga group sessions:

When:Fridays 11 am to 12 pm

Cost: $40 for 60 minutes

Limited to 5 students 

*All yoga sessions will take place in Suite 205 at Best Self Counseling Center. 

 

*To secure a spot in a yoga group:

*To secure a spot in a private yoga session:

New clients to Best Self - can schedule through the website.

Existing clients at Best Self - can email Kate and request yoga be added to their list of services, which will enable scheduling through the website.
